Sensei Basnet:

What is Taekwondo ?
Taekwondo is a art of self defense. It is a sports that enables people to strengthen their physics as well as mental power.

Chapain :
Sensei Basnet:

Why to play Taekwondo?
To maintain physical fitness, discipline and for self defense.

Sensei Basnet:

What is the actual situation of Taekwondo in Nepal ?
Nepal is a South Asian Power house in martial art and especially in Taekwondo. We have a reputed history of wining bronze medal in Olympic Also. Bidhan Lama made this pride for the Nepal . But, these days the standard of Nepalese Taekwondo is not satisfactory. In our comparison Pakistan , Bangaladesh and Srilanka has made better progress. But, we have still the good potential and if the concerned sector concentrate towards Taekwondo, we can show our strength again.

Sensei Basnet::

What about the SAG preparation these days, is it enough to win the medal?
If I have to say the truth, till now I have not watch it properly. As I have been known, the preparation is very poor and that is not enough to win the potential medals in SAG. But, in spite of it, Nepalese players have the capacity to win the medal for the country. National Sports Council has not the clear vision to produce the Taekwondo players, as NSC only concerns with WTF affiliated Taekwondo Association of Nepal. To collect the proper players NSC must have to concern with ITF and other related organizations.

Sensei Basnet:

Sensei, recently you had visited Nigeria and just before Pakistan to participate in a international Tournament, how you can compare your players with other international players?
Definitely African and European players are better than us, but they are not the best. Our players can easily compete with them and can win the medals. As, they have the great facility in terms of physical equipments, required materials and well equipped dojos, the chances for them is more. But, our players have the good techniques and only the most important thing to do for them is to make more and more participation in international tournaments. We must have to develop the mental training practice to make them mentally strong, which will increase their confidence. In comparison with Pakistani players, they have the physical game and we have the technical game.

Sensei Basnet:

Most of the popular Nepalese taekowndo players are in the foreign country these days, why we are unable to keep them for the nation's pride and what is the main cause to make them compulse to leave Nepal ?
Oh, this is the major question I think. I think the major reason for this is the unemployment problem. Every human being wants to do work for their progress. Medal gives you the pride and that is the most important thing, but, every people have their own dream which can not be full filled only by the medals. Government must have to reward them as the nation's property. But, here you can see the national sports council and the government never rewards such a players. Government must have to guarantee their job and to fulfill basic requirements. This is the main reason that the international medal winner players are compulse to leave the country, and are enjoying their in foreign country with their Taekwondo techniques.

Sensei Basnet:

Your organization is recently registered, and you are the president, what is the main objective of your association?
Our main objective is to produce better Taekwondo players. We have the long term plan to expand our activities to the all part of the nation. We want to produce some great players who can win the medal in some top level international tournaments. We have the aim to develop Taekwondo as a sports education.

Chapain :
Sensei Basnet::

What is your plan to achieve all these?
The first thing is we are newly registered association. We are now preparing for a new project by which we will launch Taekwondo in the different educational institutions. We merely give the great emphasis to run Taekwondo with the education. We have now the dojos in Kathmandu , Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Kabhre and we are now exercising to expand our dojos in some more cities of the nation, and then we move to villages and other rural areas also.

  Chapain :
Sensei Basnet:

How you are conducting training for your students?
Taekwondo is an art as well as a sports education. I give more emphasis to make the players technically and mentally sound. The regular training with physics and mental is in the main priority.

  Chapain :

Sensei Basnet:

What you like to suggest to National Sports Council for the development of Taekwondo ?
This first thing to develop the taekwondo is to develop the common forum for all the private and community taekwondo dojos. NSC must have to formed the National Martial Arts Association where all the associations that are involving in the development of martial art have to be the member. By this, all style of martial art can be expanded here in Nepal. That Martial Arts Association must have to organize the national and regional level tournament regularly and different style of martial arts association can take participation in their suitable tournaments.

  Sensei Basnet:

How the conflict of the martial art associations can be solved?
It is very easy to solve the conflict problem among the martial arts association. If the NSC will handle the association with the proper rules and regulation there is not chance to increace the conflict. Every associations must be guarated theri freedom to to their job accordance with the rules. If any goes against it, NSC must have to take the action. So, If NSC rewards and punished associations as the rules, there is no chance for conflict.

Sensei Basnet:
