How Goju-Ryu can be compared with other Karate Styles?
Most of the Karate Styles are almost same. Goju-Ryu is one of the official karate among four recognized by World Karate Federation. So, it is not much more differ than Shotokan, Shito-Ryu and Wado-Ryu as we all follow the WKF rules. Some katas are differ and the combination of Goju Katas is better and most of the katas are strong.

What is the current situation of Goju-Ryu in Nepal ?
Development of Goju-Ryu in Nepal is satisfactory. Formally Nepal Goju-Ryu is established in Nepal in 2003. And within three years we had conducted six Valley, one national and one South Asian level tournament. Players' performance was better in all those tournaments. Players are in the regular training and we have some better youth players, which indicate that they will make pride the nation in near future

How you are conducting training for your students?
Karate is the not only the physical game, but more is a mental and educational, this is our main theme and principal of training. Any player who is sound in technique and strong in physics can not play if he is not motivated to play the game. So we specially give more emphasis to train students in the managed combination of physical, mental and educational material. To achieve this, our association use to conduct technical seminars and special training courses. |

What is the Nepal 's level in comparison with other South Asian Countries?
In the period of 8 th SAF there was no doubt to say that Nepal was the power house in martial art and was in the top in comparison with other South Asian countries. But, as the medals are increased in SAF games, other countries like India , Pakistan , Bangladesh and Srilanka has given special focus on martial art events and they launched well long term plans, where as Nepal still in the same condition. That causes, other countries go ahead of Nepal and now Nepal is in a normal way. Pakistan and Srilanka do well and results Nepal to stay back. If I have to say the reality, the condition of Nepalese martial art is not much better than the other South Asian countries. To gain again the power hose credit, the government and the Sports Council must have to launch the long term projects and plans.

Isn't it necessary to study the opponents to achieve the success?
Definitely, this is the most essential part to achieve success. Only the strengthen that you have couldn't measure your success, to win the medals we must have to study the opponent. To achieve this, National Sports Council, Nepal Karate Federation must have to bring some video cassettes of previous fighting, must have to make report of the current situation of the opponents and have to study their weak points. NSC and NKF must have to collect the videos of top players, and world's top tournaments and competitions and have to generate the new techniques.

What you like to suggest to Nepal Karate Federation and National Sports Council for the development of martial art. ?
This first thing to develop the martial art is to increase the budget for the sports. NSC and NKF must have to give pressure to the government for the incensement of sports budget. Another important thing that NSC and NKF has to do is to search and attract the sports sponsors. They must have to launch the program for the schools and colleges. We need the long term project and planning. Conflict on the martial art association must have to permanently end. We must have to attract industrialist and motivate them to invest in sports sector also. In conclusion, the most important thing to do for the development of martial art is to expand the real market of karate.

How the conflict of the martial art associations can be solved?
Conflict on martial art is not only the problem of Nepal but also for the whole world. Only the difference is that, in the world, every style and associations has the freedom to expand their activities within the law and order, but in Nepal , some unseen power always tries to control the follow of martial art styles. It doesn't mean that there must not be any control mechanism, but rather I mean to say that the control mechanism should be transparent and by the law. NSC must have to take action against the associations who misuse the martial art and work as the manpower.

AT last, your suggestion for martialartnews.com? This is the remarkable work. This will definitely play the great role to expand the Nepalese martial art in the international arena. Sports journalism is still not in a pure professional way and in this condition the courage to start the martial art specialized journalism is great. I wish all the best for you and your great team.
Thank You |
